Sure enough, Duck with Rama special sauce was a very savory and tender selection. Our son ordered a small portion, and got a generous serving. He has a large appetite so even with an order of spring rolls beforehand...he was happy with a pleasant surprise. My Pad Thai was a heaping, steaming plate of noodles and shrimp. It was a tad sweeter than I expected,, but somehow before we knew it, the entire plate was scraped clean.
Cabbage was basically all we got. Veggies with peanut sauce and fried rice. Mostly cabbage. Oh, and it cost almost $30. Soup was good.
The pad thai and lemon chicken soup--yum yum! Great flavors!
My favorite Thai spot in Baton Rouge
We had a decent wait on a Saturday night, but the food was pretty good. Our table split a chicken soup which they warmed with a flame from the middle of the bowl, which was pretty cool. I got the BBQ stir fry, and it was a pretty large serving. We split the coconut ice cream after dinner, and that was actually really good. I'd recommend it.
I have been here quite a few times. It is the best Thai in Baton Rouge, in my opinion. Sometimes the wait can be long, and service is not the fastest. It is a very small place, but I like that. The servers are very personable, and polite. I don’t mind waiting for this place, it’s that good!
Amazing food. The Rama Duck and the Pad Thai are my favorite
Best hidden gem in Baton Rouge! Just have to warn you though that this place is tiny!
Was not a big fan. The service was not great, was a while before we even got waited on. My food came out 20 mins after my 2 friends got their food. The place is dirty - visible dust on picture frames. The food was OK. Not likely to return. One thing is for sure, the portions are generous.
Amazing authentic Thai food cooked with love in a little hole in a wall restaurant. One of Baton Rouge's hidden gems. Yes, the service is slow and it does take a while for the friendly staff to bring your food but it's worth the wait. The food makes you feel full and satisfied not stuffed. So many great dishes to try. Among my favorites are the Panang anything and the Pad Thai. When you go home at night after eating their food, you'll have good dreams.
First time here and I was blown away. Very cozy, but the food was incredible. The portions are indeed generous. I recommend the pad thai.
Pad thai was great but the mint chicken was truly awful. They skimped on the meat with both dishes as well. This the 5th time weve eaten here and my wife and I have both noticed a significant decrease in the meat provided with entrees. The price is going up and the amount of meat is going down. Not a great trend. Easily the best pad thai in baton rouge but complete cheapskates
Good flavors. The restaurant is really small. It's worth a try if you like Thai.I took one star off because on one visit it took about a half hour for someone to even come to our table to take our order, even in such a small room.
Whether there's a chill in the air or it's a hot summer day, I always go for the lemon grass soup at Rama. It's the best around. Lots of mushrooms and big on flavor. I crave it! For my entree, it was the first time I had their silver noodles, which comes with pork. It was a generous portion and the noodles were cooked to perfection. But it needed a good bit of soy sauce and hot sauce to bring out the flavor. Not bad but there are so many better dishes to choose from.
Rama is easily the Thai restaurant I visit most in Baton Rouge. The place itself is pretty unassuming--there are no windows and tables are pretty close together. I wouldn't come here if you are claustrophobic! There is a huge variety in dishes, one can mix and match panang shrimp or red curry chicken or any combination in between. The items are very reasonably priced, and the portions are easily large enough to share. There are a solid number of vegetarian and pescatarian options available, and the drinks are also decently priced. I'll typically visit one every couple months and am satisfied every time.
Ginormous servings for super cheap. The staff is seriously incredible; my friend left her jacket inside and one of the employees ran outside to give it to her. Really great place!
I had the pad thai noodles tom yum soup, delicious. The building is small and maybe not easy to park outside, but still, good to try.
Don’t let the exterior fool you — this hole-in-the-wall is a real gem. It has a wide selection of tasty Thai food in huge servings at nearly unbelievable low prices. The inside is a bit tight, but it’s worth having a meal there at least once. The lemon grass soup is a must with a group — it’s full of flavor with just the right amount of spice and perfect to share. Come with an empty stomach and be prepared to take food home with you.
The pad thai was okay, this is a small restaurant and the staff were nice.
Great hole-in-the-wall place. Parking is limited, small restaurant, but amazing food!!! Staff is friendly and service was quick. Rama Spicy for appetizer was great.Lemon Grass Soup may be the best soup I've ever tasted in my life. Panang Shrimp was excellent and not too spicy. Pad Thai is so good!!! Creamy and sooo peanutty. It's seriously the best Pad Thai I've ever had. Highly recommend! Try and go on a week night though, to avoid the rush.
Always great, every time! Love the food, love the people. If you're a first timer, be sure to try the lemon grass soup (it's spicy) and the beef larb!
Huge portions, excellent prices and amazing food!
Always good! Got the shrimp chips and golden beef hamburgers as an appetizer, and then combination fried rice and my entree. All were phenomenal.
Took fried rice to go.. Bland.. Tasteless.. Pricier than f'ing PF Changs.. Server was rude with not much knowledge of menu.. Much better Thai places in town rather than this.
Service is a little slow on busy nights but WELL worth the wait as this little gem of a restaurant has some of the best Thai food this side of Bangkok! The wait staff have been here forever and are very nice! Ask them to teach you a little bit of Thai. It's such an interesting language! You'll be glad you did.
So far we have just had the tom yum soup. My wife loves it when she is sick. it was very very good and she enjoyed it very much. When she feels better we plan on going back and sampling more than menu.
The woman that took my order over the phone was very nice. My husband picked up our order and confirmed that she was a sweetheart. This was our first time eating here. The food was superb!!! It was hot, fresh, and the portions are huge. This is certain to be a new regular place for us!!!
Rama's food is amazing! They have they best pad Thai I've ever eaten and the lemongrass soup is superb! I don't live in Baton Rouge anymore, but I make it a point to plan a Rama dinner when I'm in town.
Maybe we visited on an off day, but everything we ordered was nasty. We love Thai - there are better options in Baton Rouge.
Terrific Thai in a modest little restaurant under the expressway. Don’t miss this if you are in BR.
Easily THE best kept secret in Baton Rouge!Insanely good Thai cuisine. Pick something and enjoy
This place is good! Coming from NY where amazing Thai is easy to find, this is not the best Thai food I’ve ever had but it is the best I’ve had in Baton Rouge. This is definitely a hidden gem as it is not in a very prominent location and easily missed. When you walk in it is very small and feels like you stepped into someone’s living room (which I don’t mind from authentic cuisines). The portion size is very good. I had leftovers. My husband, who can eat quite a bit, finished his meal very satisfied!
No windows on this building made it seem sketch. Walked inside and it felt like I was in a secret Prohibition-era club. 10/10 favorite Thai speak-easy.
The food was pretty good but the service was very slow. Our server wasn't friendly and wasn't answering our questions about dietary restrictions. My husband told her she wasn't being helpful which helped.
The food was GOD AWFUL. Ordered a pizza after 3 bites. Service was terrible- the lady who we paid refused to give us our receipt after I suspected we were overcharged. I cannot understand the raving reviews.
Best Thai food in BR, the kindest and most loyal staff, and the coziest vibes. Unassuming, but some of the best food in the capitol city.
If God told me that I could only have one meal for the rest of my life I would tell him, "Mint Chicken from Rama!" Yeah, it's that good.
The fried rice was awesome and their customer service is great and the prices were pretty good as well
It was Wednesday night about 6:15 pm when we got there. My wife and I both ordered the shrimp dinner. It had sweet and sour shrimp, lemon grass soup, fried shrimp patties and shrimp fried rice. We had fried bananas with coconut and durian ice cream. There were several empty tables, the place was not crowded. The service was friendly and decently timely. The sweet and sour shrimp, fried rice and lemon grass soup were delicious, but I have tasted spicier Thai food. I like spicy food and though good, spice would have kicked it up a notch. The fried shrimp patties were OK, but nothing to rave about. The desert was excellent, but I was not impressed with the durian ice cream. We skipped the vanilla ice cream and took two scoops of coconut and one of durian.Maybe a tad more sweet and sour shrimp and a little less shrimp fried rice would have been a better balance for the plate.Great food at a good price. My kind of place.
Tiny, cozy and unassuming place. Surprised to see how crowded it was despite being quite early in the evening. The food is delicious. Thai food lovers would definitely appreciate the food. Has good amount of vegetarian choices. The wait staff were two older ladies who were really friendly despite being very busy. They would make sure everything was good. Would definitely go back for more and try different stuff from the menu.
Love the pad thai. Great thai food
Best Thai in Baton Rouge in our opinion!! Small and slow, adds to the charm as long as you know this going in. Same people working each time that own it, lovely people.
This was the worst Thai food I’ve ever had in my life! My husband is sick too. The red curry is so sweet it should be a dessert. Very disappointed.
Medium to low restaurant. Good food
The food is excellent. The place looks really sketchy as you approach, and the complete lack of windows is off-putting. The wait staff is friendly although they can get distracted by chatting to other guests, so your wait time may be longer than is strictly necessary. Your food might not all make it to your table at the exact same time either but...relax. The food is well worth it. That was the best Pad Thai I have ever eaten.
I’m a big fan of drunken noodles. I was a bit disappointed about the noodles here. However, the service was nice. The staff cared about their customers.
Best in Baton Rouge!
Don't let the unassuming exterior of this restaurant near the Perkins overpass fool you. Inside is an intimate and humble dining experience, and the food is truly excellent. There are only a handfull of tables available, but take out is available as well. The food is wonderful and is easily as good as any Thai restaurant we've been to in the U.S. Don't be in a big hurry though, staff are limited. But then again, it's probably best to savor an experience like this.
My all time favorite Thai restaurant. This place was very quick service on a week night ( less than 20 from ordering to getting food), the food was incredible, and the staff was sweet and efficient. Have gone back once and will make a point to go here every time I go back to Baton Rouge.
Food is delicious. Love the shrimp dinner, comes with the lemongrass soup which is amazing, and the shrimp and rice which is a meal by itself.
